Blaenau Gwent Information Strategy

The Welsh Government Statutory Guidance Shared Purpose: Shared Delivery specifies that each Local Service Board should develop an enabling strategy for information, which should form part of the Single Integrated Plan.

The guidance outlined that service planning should be driven by an analysis of need rather than demand, and that in order to undertake integrated planning on the basis of need significant resource needs to be committed to analysing the evidence.

The guidance outlines that an information strategy should set out how the PSBwill make best use of its resources in order to provide the right information at the right time to inform its work.  Furthermore, it states that partners should be a shared local resource for ongoing needs analysis, intervention design and impact evaluation across the whole single integrated plan.

From April 2013, Blaenau Gwent Local Service Board will implement a Blaenau Gwent Partnership Information Strategy, which will aim to provide a coordinated and better planned approach to the use of intelligence in Blaenau Gwent, delivered by key partner organisations working together.

The strategy is based on the recommendation of the Audit Commission 'Is there something I should know' report, which outlines three specific areas to ensure that partner organisations are utilising robust evidence that support good decisions.

What do we need to do? 

The key aims for the 2013 to 2017 Blaenau Gwent Information Strategy are to:

Information Aim 1: Create a culture in partnership organisations that values and exploits the power of information

Information Aim 2: Utilise effectively the expert, professional, well trained people working in partner organisations

Information Aim 3: Develop good data quality and information which is shared effectively across partner organisations
